OXONBIKE brings electric bike hire scheme to city centre

OXONBIKE is launching a new electric bike docking station this month at Oxford rail station.

It’s great news for those looking to link their journey from the train to local hospital sites and university campuses in cycling distance.

There will be an eight-lock station with charging points for six e-bikes, making the total number of bikes in the network in excess of 70 across 14 docks. The electric bikes in the scheme make quick work of any off-putting hills and offer an effort-free alternative to the pedal bike.

The new docking station and bikes are made possible by a £20,000 grant from the Department for Transport and £10,000 from the University of Oxford.

OXONBIKE is a partnership between Hourbike the operator, The University of Oxford, Oxford Brookes University, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford Health NHS Trust, Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council. Staff and students from partner organisations can apply for a 20% discount on subscriptions for OXONBIKE. For all the details and to hire a bike visit the OXONBIKE website.

Businesses who are interested in sponsoring OXONBIKE should contact the OXONBIKE team.
